Here’s a post full of randomness:

I got a new aluminum water bottle, its supposed to be safe (no BPA), but I can’t help but wonder how this thing is killing me.

Monday is toast and yogurt day for breakfast, the kids love dipping the toast in the yogurt. Pretty unremarkable right? Wrong. It just hit me this morning how remarkable it was. The bread was honey whole wheat made at home by Beth, the vanilla-honey yogurt was made by me, and the raspberry jam was made by Beth and canned by me. The only thing that was missing was homemade butter, maybe someday.

Our Sunday Lunch consists of a large tray of miscellaneous food items that we share as a family. The tray always has cheese and tofu, the other items vary. Yesterday, the cheese was emmentaler and the tofu was terriyaki. I added a brussels sprout salad (chopped up leftover brussels sprouts soaked in red wine vinegar, with salt, pepper, and a pinch of sugar), the last of my kalamata olives, some polenta (homemade, sauteed in butter), and some thinly sliced apple. It’s my absolute favorite meal of the week.

Last night we watched “The Secret Life of Bees“. I patiently waited for the end of the movie to tell Beth my joke. Here it is. Gee Beth that movie was such a girl movie that they should have called it The Secret Life of Boo-Bees.

That was it, that was the joke. No its not funny and yes it only vaguely makes sense. It did serve its purpose though.

We need a new book for the book club, any suggestions? A book you’ve always wanted to read, a bestseller that everyone is raving about, I want to get a book that everyone is gonna read and have an opinion about.

Enough for now.

What is the purpose of this blog? I meant it as a place to share recipes, but I just don’t have that many recipes. So I loosened up and added some music content, but its a bad time to add music content because the Web Sheriff is cracking down. Can I talk about tv? This season of Lost has been top notch*, The Office has been a bit of a disappointment, but 30 Rock has been splendid**. Thats it for tv for me, except for those Friday night news shows and Saturday afternoon cooking shows on PBS. Movies? I don’t watch enough. Naked Mole Rats? Thats just creepy. Here’s what I came up with. I mine the depth of my now defunct blog WhatGoesOn and share with you some of my favorite posts. Enjoy. (Following the Pozterisks of course)

*I would normally say awesome, but I’m looking for a new awesome substitute. Any Suggestions? Something timeless like Cool, but eith more emphasis.

**This is possibly the first time that I have ever used splendid in a sentence, it just doesn’t sound right, but here are my other easy fix options.

Sound the Trumpets. Today is a day that will live in infamy, for today is the day I crown… A new King of candy bars*

Today, for lunch, I had Punjab Choley, basically a (very) spicy chickpea chili. It burns. So for desert I need chocolate and lots of it. Here are my choices from the candy bag: Snickers, Almond Joy, Peanut Butter Cup, Butterfinger, Baby Ruth, Hershey’s Chocolate, M & M (plain and peanut), and Crunch. A nice selection. 4 of my top five candy bars right there. So faced with such a selection what did I choose? A variety (3 different candy bars)? A top heavy small variety (2 of my favorite and one other? No, I chose 3 peanut butter cups.

For as long as I can remember, Snickers has been my favorite candy bar, it really satisfies. It has it all, peanuts, nougat, caramel, and chocolate, but I’m just not that into it anymore. I don’t need all that fancy nougat, I just want something simple and satisfying. That is why I am writing you here today. I just want you to know that Reese’s peanut butter cups are now my number 1 favorite candy bar. I’ve known deep down inside for some time now, it just that snickers and I have such a history that I wanted to give it another chance. Really, how can snickers compete with Reese’s Peanut Butter Easter eggs? It Can’t, I’ve tried snickers easter eggs, they’re horrible.

*I Use the term bar loosely, it doesn’t necessarily have to be in bar form. I don’t really know what the limits of form are, but let’s not get nitpicky o.k?

Wow, that’s some in depth blogging. Bye.

You (all 4 of you) have demanded it, and you shall receive more tofu recipes, later though. Beth has been taking up the slack and posting like a maniac which will allow me to do some site maintenance. I’m gonna try out a new theme with 2 columns and rotating headers, we’ll see if it works. I’ll put up a new poll so you can vote on it. Surprisingly, the “more tofu recipes” option won the last poll, I still think I’ll include a pic of me with my shirt off. I’m gonna try to mess with the sidebar a bit and add some new headers, really tell us what you think. This site is a great outlet for Beth and I but we do want your input. Beth and I have talked about guest posts, there will be some shortly from our friends. Have you bought your tempeh yet, if not you should get it tonight, I’ll post a tempeh reuben recipe tomorrow, its freakin’ good. It’s the perfect weekend lunch sandwich. OK on to the changes, wish me luck.
