Our First Book

Our First Book

So many books, so little time.  Let’s get started and we’ll figure this out as we go along.

For our first book, Beth and I decided on Life of Pi.    It’s now in paperback so you can find it pretty cheap.  I recommend checking out half-price books they have a great selection of cheap books, look for one near you.   Life of Pi is simply one of my favorite books of all time,  I’ve read it twice and have thoroughly enjoyed it both times.   As we move along everyone will get a chance to present their own favorites to the club.

It worked!!!   Check out at the top of the page,  click where it says Book Club Forum and you’re there.  We have our very own forum.  I’m not sure about the login, that is if you have to create a new one or if you can use one you have already created for the main site (if you did create one).  In any event, its easy to create a login name.

I’m gonna start a new introductory forum where we can talk about what we’re reading right now, out favorite books of all time, why we like reading and so on and so forth so look for the Introductory forum.  I’m excited to have the chance to discuss the books as we are reading them.  Anyway, go to the forum.

  • I read that one a while back, but I liked it! How fast do you think we are going to go through a book? Its seriously going to take me a little while. (Not that one, though. Its fairly short.)

  • I tried my username and password that I use for this and it said I must register it. It was pretty easy to do, and it will email you a password.

I was thinking 1 month or so per book, maybe 3 weeks for the quick reads. Some people will be able to fly through them while some will get bogged down (with children most likely). We can adjust later if we need to. I think discussing as we go will help even things out though. Just start a new thread for whatever part of the book you want to discuss.

  • Another thing for anyone who does not own this book: I just found it on ebay for $1.00 (used of course). Shipping is 3.99, but for a total of $4.99 for it to be delivered to your house is pretty good!

  • [...] forget the Book Club.  Head over to the forum and introduce yourself.  E-mail me if you need [...]
