Thrift Store Finds post #1
I love finding good deals. I love vintage and unique stuff. That makes me the perfect candidate for shopping at secondhand stores. I walked around my house today and took pictures of all the things that I saw that I had bought at a thrift store. (these are some, not all)
If you like to sew, thrift stores are fabulous places to buy buttons (and they are full of character!) lace, ribbon, patterns (I found some awesome vintage ones) zippers, and even fabric. If you see a cute sheet, you can even use it for fabric. It will save you a ton of money buying these things here. Plus, don’t you just love the idea of something having a story behind it? (okay, I know I may be the only one who feels this way.)
Another good thing to buy at thrift stores is frames. You can get any size, shape, color. Just remove the picture inside (which is usually some random Olan Mills shot) and replace with your own picture. If you can’t find one that is the right color, just spray paint it. Black. Or red. Or blue.
I’m really into embroidery right now, so I try and find beauties like this and update them a little by painting the frame.
Curtains!! I always see curtains that I like. I just don’t have enough windows for them. I love sheer and/or white long curtains, they seem so airy and romantic to me.
Lamps, lamps, lamps. All shapes and sizes.
And last but not least, furniture. Here is a few examples we have (of many) of the furniture that can be found at Goodwill.

Jared is a Cordon Bleu trained chef and a lover of food.
Beth holds a Bachelor's degree in painting and needs to write something else here.
Very cute ideas. Goodwill is just around the corner from my house. I’ll have to go see what I can find.
Cute stuff! I go to some of the antique stores here (which I know you are familiar with) and sometimes they will sell shelves and things cheap. Do you remember the shelf in my scrapbook room? With the little shelves? I bought it for $10 at the scary antique store and painted it antique white and I LOVE it! Its fun seeing what you do to things!
Yes, Em, I loved the antique stores in Kansas! ANd I loved your shelves in your craft room! I guess Goodwill has kind of been my replacement for them. . . I guess they will al be antique someday, ha. Let me know if you find anything Amanda! (I wonder what people donate in Florida.)
I need to scope out our thrift stores more often. It is hard to shop at them with both of my girls.
it is hard to, i’d rather shop alone. I usually promise to let them play with the toys if they are good so that I can look.
